About Photography by Jay
Preserving all the important moments in life: high school graduations, family portraits, first communions and the ages of childhood. He also photographs quite a bit of pets too! His true gift, Jay believes, is in capturing his subjects in the moments when they're most themselves.
"I like to make people feel relaxed and at ease so I can catch their personality and expression when they're just being natural," said Jay.
The variety of Jay's work displayed throughout his Swoyersville studio testifies to his ability to give each photo a unique touch.
"Our niche is really 'people capture' with artistic imagery added to that," he said.
Many of the senior pictures feature high school students accompanied with a guitar, a skateboard, or another prop that demonstrates their personality or interests. Jay works in a spacious camera room and an outdoor studio, but also travels to locations for various photography assignments and other off-site events. He has even traveled as far as Miami, upon request, for his wedding services.
Photography by Jay offers custom framing, a variety of portrait packages, and a copy and restoration service for old/damaged photos.
Jay's interest in photography began when he picked up a part-time job in a department store studio while in college, where he was studying graphic design and commercial art. Later, after working for another local studio, Jay fine tuned his photography and people skills, and grew to love the photography business. In 1996, Jay and Lori, his wife of 20+ years, opened their studio.
Jay's staff works hard to keep the studio's customer service top notch. Bookings are made months in advance due to the business's personal service and Jay's high-quality photography.
"Even though we are booked months ahead and hold hundreds of appointments a year, everyone who comes in is an individual to us," said Jay. "The most important thing is our customer's experience with us. What I hope our customers continue to say about us is that we’re one of the best in the area."
